You are right Victor my V8 does have the later four pin relay and I had read the notes referred to but unless I am mistaken they still dont answer my question of which coloured wire goes where?

Thatís why I gave you a link to a colour coded wiring diagram (hover the cursor over the wire for the colour).
It should be:
Black/orange to W1
Green to W2
Black/green to C1
Brown to C2
Or do you have different wire colours?

One side of the override switch should be earthed and the other should be connected to W1.

I hope this helps.

I think it will be useful if I add a wiring diagram for the four terminal cooling fans relay as that will be a permanent reference source for fellow V8 members available on the V8 website and in the V8NOTES series then a key words search in the future will show a link to that diagram. I agree my close up photo of the relay used in the two V8NOTES I mentioned did not make the wiring entirely clear.

All is clear now and the fans are working perfectly - many thanks to all who contributed.
